FAMILY ENGAGEMENT PLAN

 

 

 

GOAL 1

 

Bradley County Schools will insure that all families and community will have an opportunity to help develop the schools' Family/Community Engagement Policy.

 

Action Plan:

 

Representatives from the community with representation of diverse backgrounds will come together in focused group meetings annually to help formulate and gather information for our policy and plan.

 

Family Engagement Plan is located on the Valley View website for all stakeholders to review and list suggestions for revision. Name will be provided of Key contact person for more information.

 

Parent Advisory (Task Force) Committee has reviewed the policy as well as the plan and made recommendations for changes and for revision.

 

School and system administrators have reviewed and revised the policy and

plan.

 

 

GOAL 2

 

Bradley County Schools will provide technical assistance and planning support for effective family engagement.

 

Action Plan:

 

Federal Projects Director will meet with principals and school planning teams to provide expertise and training in developing school level engagement plans.

 

Planning task force teams (parents, students, community, and school personnel) will provide input for more effective communication.

 

Task force teams, along with district personnel, will provide training for implementing school engagement plans.

 

The district will continue to utilize Connect Ed to provide more information about their student's education.

 

 

GOAL 3

 

Bradley County Schools will clearly articulate goals for family engagement and evaluate the effectiveness of the goals at all schools as well as the district.

 

Action Plan:

 

All schools will develop a family engagement plan with help of their stakeholders that can be viewed at each school's website.

 

The district will evaluate communication practices within the system by administering a communication survey.

 

The Bradley County Board of Education will annually review the Family Engagement Policy.

 

Parent Advisory Council will meet bi-annually to discuss school system issues.

 

 

GOAL 4

 

Bradley County Schools will evaluate the family engagement plan to insure continuous improvement for all families.

 

Action Plan

  

Task Force will analyze the academic and non-academic data to determine the needs assessment for each school's annual results.

 

Representatives from the community and all schools with representation of diverse backgrounds will come together to form the Task Force. Focused group meetings to be held to help formulate and gather information for our policy and plan.

 

 

  

GOAL 5

  

Bradley County Schools will require family engagement plans for each site.

 

Action Plan:

  

Representatives from the community and all schools with representation of diverse backgrounds will come together in focused group meetings to help formulate and gather information for our policy and plan. The emphasis for the family engagement plan needs to focus on student learning.

 

An annual survey will be administered to measure the effectiveness of this plan.

 

 

GOAL 6

  

Bradley County Schools will provide opportunities for parents at all school sites to access and understand curriculum materials as well as Federal, State and Local standards.

 

Action Plan:

  

District website will provide curriculum information links for all grade levels regarding curriculum and standards.

 

All schools will involve community as well as parents on their school improvement teams (TSIP).

 

Schools will provide student handbooks that include parent rights and responsibilities as they pertain to their child.

 

District website will provide a System-Wide Calendar.

 

District will provide staff development activities for community and staff for family engagement.

 

District will provide translated school information into other languages.

 

 

GOAL 7

  

Bradley County Schools will encourage and support the district involvement in positive parenting skills, decision-making and governance.

 

Action Plan:

  

Monthly newsletters (Home School Connection) and phone messages through Connect Ed will provide parenting tips.

 

All schools will involve community as well as parents on their improvement teams (TSIP).

 

Schools will provide student handbooks that include parent rights and responsibilities as they pertain to their child,

 

District website will provide System-Wide Calendar.

 

 

District will provide staff development activities for community and staff about Family Engagement.

 

District provides Parent Portal, Math, and Technology training to assist parents in helping children learn.

 

 

GOAL 8

  

Bradley County Schools will support professional development and will specify in the budget how to build capacity for family engagement.

 

Action Plan:

  

All schools will provide meaningful training for family and community (Science Night, etc.).

 

All schools will provide parenting workshops as needed determined by input from stakeholders in the School Improvement Plan.
